Professional Support

    i. On-site Pre-school Rehabilitation Services (OPRS)

    Our school provides “School-based Pre-school Rehabilitation Services-Early Start Program” which is organized by Yang Memorial Methodist Social Service. This service is funded by the Social Welfare Department. Professionals come to schools regularly to provide individual and group training for children with special learning needs. The professional team provides professional support to parents and teachers, so that children in need can integrate through appropriate training, so that they can build up stable development foundation. The professional team also conducts regular interviews with teachers to understand the children's training progress and make adjustments in the classroom to take into account the children's learning ability needs.

    ii. Kindergarten Social Work Services

    Our school provides on-campus social worker services by Yang Memorial Methodist Social Service “Project FamChild Social Work Services in Pre-primary Institutions”. School-based social workers provide support and child care to families in need, and provide more comprehensive support for families and children. They organize different parent workshops to enhance parents’ parenting skills and promote parent-child activities; through early identification and intervention, we cooperate together with the parents as to provide comprehensive support to families and students in need.

    iii. Support to non-Chinese speaking (NCS) students

    Our school designs activities and makes good use of resources for non-Chinese speaking children based on their life experiences, interactive learning experiences, and organizes different interesting group games to strengthen the Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing skills of non-Chinese speaking children, thereby helping them integrate into school and daily life.

    Our school joins the on-site support “Gearing Up Schools and Parents - Supporting Non-Chinese Speaking Kindergarten Students in Learning Chinese”organized by HKU School of Professional and Continuing Education.Also, we arrange teachers to participate in the “Teaching for Non-Chinese Speaking Students - Professional Development Programme for Kindergarten Teachers” course organized by the Education Bureau, we provide teacher trainings, teachers design appropriate language activities for non-Chinese speaking children, so that the NCS can develop good interests in learning Chinese, and care about the learning differences of children in learning Chinese.

    Social support

    Centre for Harmony and Enhancement of Ethnic Minority Residents(CHEER)is one of the support service centres funded by the Home Affairs Department of HKSAR Government to provide accessible services to ethnic minorities in Hong Kong. CHEER provides Interpretation and Translation Service to non-Chinese/ English speaking ethnic minorities and organizations providing essential public services.
